Edward was born at Hampton Court on October the 12 1537 to Henry V111 and his third wife Jane Seymour.  Edward came to the throne at the age of nine in July 1547. 

Edward's maternal uncle was Edward Seymour, 1st Earl of Hertford, Lord Protector and Duke of Somerset.  Edward died of tuberculosis when he was 17 at Greenwich on July 6 1553.
